Three students at Southeast Bulloch High School have placed in the Voice of Democracy essay contest.

The contest was established by the VFW in 1947 to provide high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. Each year, nearly 64,500 9-12 grade students from across the country enter to win their share of more than $2 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program.

The 2020-21 theme was “What is Patriotism to Me?”

The award winning essays at SEBHS this year were:

Bronze: Parker Youmans

Silver: Terry Turner

Gold: Kayli Jo Cowart
