Hospital Authority of Bulloch County Presents $1.9 Million Check to Bulloch County

The Hospital Authority of Bulloch County presented a $1.9 million check to Bulloch County during the regular commission meeting this week.

Patricia Hunter, who serves as the Authority’s Chairman, presented on the financial position Tuesday night and delivered the check as part of the county’s standing agreement with the Hospital Authority.

Bulloch County and the Hospital Authority of Bulloch County established the intergovernmental agreement following the sale of the hospital in 1996. As part of the agreement, 80% of the profits from the Authority’s investment earnings are returned to Bulloch County while 10% go to nonprofit organizations.

Hunter presented to commissioners that the total amount provided to the county this year is $1,914,453.38, more than $300,000 more than the estimate provided to commissioners earlier in the year. Since 1996, more than $41 million has been provided to Bulloch County under the agreement.

To nonprofit organizations, this year, $239,306 will be donated, bringing the overall total to more than $5.14 million.

“We are very happy to be able to report that to you and we feel like it’s a significant contribution to the citizens of Bulloch County,” Hunter said.
