She entered a guilty plea in April 2023. Judge Muldrew sentenced her to serve four years on probation and pay a $2,000 fine. The following year, Burton violated her probation with her June 2024 arrest and was re-sentenced to serve 90-120 days in a Probation Detention Center.

The now -39-year-old requested a jury trial for the 2024 case and was tried in Effingham County this week, once again in the courtroom of Judge Michael Muldrew. The trial lasted less than a full day and the jury returned a guilty verdict on the sole felony count of Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer.
