The Springfield City Council has voted to terminate the City’s agreement with Blue Line Solutions for the operation of the automated speed detection camera program in the Springfield Elementary School zone.
In accordance with the terms of the agreement, the City will provide Blue Line Solutions with the required 30 days’ written notice of termination. The agreement is expected to terminate effective September 11, 2026. The automated speed detection program will remain subject to the existing agreement during the 30-day notice period. Upon termination of the agreement, automated speed enforcement through the Blue Line Solutions program at Springfield Elementary will be discontinued.
The speed detection camera program was originally implemented as an additional tool to encourage motorists to reduce speeds and improve safety for students, families, school employees, and motorists traveling through the school zone. Following a review of the program and discussion with Springfield Police Chief Woodcock, the City Council determined that terminating the agreement with Blue Line Solutions is in the best interest of the City and its residents.
The City Council and the Springfield Police Department – Georgia remain committed to maintaining a strong law enforcement presence in the Springfield Elementary School zone and ensuring motorists comply with posted speed limits. The Police Department will continue to enforce traffic and speed laws through traditional law enforcement methods and work with school officials to address traffic safety concerns.
The City of Springfield appreciates the community’s continued cooperation in keeping school zones safe and reminds all motorists that posted school-zone speed limits remain in effect and will continue to be enforced following the discontinuation of automated camera enforcement.
During the 30-day notice period, the City will complete the administrative steps necessary to conclude the agreement with Blue Line Solutions and transition away from the automated speed detection program.
