The attorney for a Richmond Hill woman charged with stealing thousands from booster clubs and charities appeared in court on her behalf Thursday morning to request an additional sixty days before any further court action.
Susan Lynn Nelson was arrested on January 30, 2025 on a slew of felony fraud and theft charges, in which she was accused of defrauding an area Booster Club to pay for things such as her cell phone bill and an OnlyFans account.
Warrants alleged that Nelson converted funds from the Richmond Hill Wild Kicks Booster Club for her own use, forged checks, provided fraudulent information to financial institutions, and transferred funds from accounts that did not belong to her into accounts that did. The total in deceptively received funds computed to upwards of $81,000. Read the story here.
Nelson has been behind bars since her arrest and bond was denied at her First Appearance due to her being a flight risk. Law enforcement officials said Nelson was reportedly in the process of making arrangements to leave town, placed her home for sale, changed her appearance, and had purchased plane tickets.
Nelson was slated to have a bond hearing on March 20, but it was canceled days before. Five days later, prosecutors brought forth additional charges against Nelson.
Additional Charges Added
At the end of March, four additional felony Theft by Taking charges were brought in a second Accusation against Nelson. In that document, prosecutors alleged that Nelson:
Unlawfully took cash from the Richmond Hill Wild Kicks Club in an amount greater than $25,000 between September 26, 2023 and July 31, 2024.
Unlawfully took cash from the Richmond Hill Wild Kicks Club in an amount greater than $25,000 between February 7, 2024 and July 31, 2024
Unlawfully took cash from the fundraiser for Mica Francis Miller (Justice4Mica), the headline-garnering case in South Carolina involving a deceased woman and , which benefitted Abigail Francis, in an amount greater than $5,000 between June 1, 2024 and November 30, 2024.
Unlawfully took cash from the Richmond Hill Primary School Parent Teacher Student Organization in an amount greater than $1,500 between March 1, 2024 and November 30, 2024.
In total, Nelson was accused of unlawfully taking more than $137,500. Notably, there is mention of another Theft by Taking offense related to ‘Rebuild Richmond Hill Fundraiser theft,’ but the charge was barred by the statute of limitations.
April 24 Court Date
Nelson was scheduled to appear in Bryan County Superior Court Thursday with her attorney, Lloyd Murray. Notably, the scheduling calendar listed a ‘possible plea’ as a reason for the court date. What wasn’t on the table was another request for a bond hearing.
Nevertheless, neither took place Thursday, as Murray asked the court to continue the case until June. Nelson was not present in the courtroom and Judge Charles Rose granted the request for a continuance.
