Judge Sets Bond for Adams, Warrants Filed in Court

A Tattnall County Superior Court Judge set bond for Brian Dennis Adams, former Warden of Smith State Prison, on Thursday morning.

Adams was booked into the Tattnall County Jail Wednesday evening following his arrest by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He made his ‘first appearance’ before a magistrate as required by law on Thursday morning. Adams, who served as the Warden at Smith State Prison in Glennville, GA for three years and four months, was charged with:

According to warrants filed in the Tattnall County Clerk’s Office, Adams:

  • Provided false statements in an April 13, 2022 interview when he stated he has not been solicited or bribed by a Georgia Department of Corrections inmate in the past 10 years.
  • Denied taking part in the introduction of contraband at Smith State Prison and denied involvement in a RICO organization orchestrated by inmate Nathan Weekes.
    • Nathan Weekes is the self-declared President of the Yves Saint Laurent Squad, which was operating a multi-million dollar contraband ring from inside Smith State Prison, according to the GBI. Weekes is currently in the Special Management Unit in Jackson, GA and facing the death penalty for his alleged role in the botched murder-for-hire scheme that resulted in the death of 88-year-old Bobby Kicklighter in January 2021.(Read more about that case here)
  • Violated his oath of office when he participated in a RICO organization, being Yves Saint Laurent Squad, and he committed the offenses of Bribery and False Statements and Writings in furtherance of the RICO organization.
  • Was bribed when he accepted currency through a pattern of racketeering associated with the RICO enterprise, being Yves Saint Laurent Squad.
  • Violated the RICO Act when he made false statements in April 2022 and when he accepted currency with the RICO enterprise Yves Saint Laurent Squad.

The judge set bond for Adams in the amount of $40,000 CASH or $80,000 PROPERTY bond.

Having posted a property bond, as of 2:00 p.m Thursday, Adams was no longer in the Tattnall County Jail.
