New Ambulances Join Camden County Fire Rescue

Camden County Fire Rescue (CCFR) recently received two Custom AEV Type 1 Units. The purchases were approved by the Camden County Board of Commissioners in August 2020 and are the first two of five total new ambulances included in SPLOST VIII.

“The commitment made by the Board of Commissioners to upgrade our ambulance fleet helps us better serve the citizens and visitors of Camden County,” said Camden County Fire Rescue Chief Terry Smith. “We are thankful for their continued support of Camden County Fire Rescue through SPLOST funding.”

These new ambulances are part of the over $2.6 million in new buildings, equipment, and apparatus since 2017. During this time, Camden County Fire Rescue has added one (1) new tanker truck, three (3) new engines, one (1) new firehouse, and nearly $500,000 in equipment and tools. The cost of Life Squad 11 and Life Squad 17 total over $499,000.

Camden County voters approved the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VIII in March 2019. This one-cent sales tax is paid by all residents and visitors that purchase goods in Camden County. SPLOST VIII began collection in July 2019 and concludes in June 2025.
Pending final inspections, the new ambulances will be put into service.
