Woman Sentenced for Defrauding Richmond Hill HS Booster Club, Others for Only Fans Account

The Bryan County woman facing felony charges for stealing from a high school booster club and a Mica Miller fundraiser to pay cell phone bills and OnlyFans subscriptions entered a guilty plea in Bryan County Superior Court Thursday.

Susan Lynn Nelson was arrested on January 30, 2025 on a slew of felony fraud and theft charges, in which she was accused of defrauding the Richmond Hill High School Booster Club to pay her cell phone bill and an OnlyFans account, among other things.

Warrants alleged that Nelson converted funds from the Richmond Hill Wild Kicks Booster Club for her own use, forged checks, provided fraudulent information to financial institutions, and transferred funds from accounts that did not belong to her into accounts that did. The total in deceptively received funds computed to upwards of $81,000. Read the story here.

Nelson remained in jail following her arrest after law enforcement officials told the court that Nelson was reportedly in the process of making arrangements to leave town, placed her home for sale, changed her appearance, and had purchased plane tickets.

In March, four additional felony Theft by Taking charges were brought in a second Accusation against Nelson. In that document, prosecutors alleged that Nelson’s total theft topped $137,000 between the booster club, a Mica Miller fundraiser, and a Parent-Teacher-Student Organization. There was also mention of another Theft by Taking offense related to ‘Rebuild Richmond Hill Fundraiser theft,’ but the charge was barred by the statute of limitations. Read the specifics here.

During an April court appearance, Nelson’s attorney, Lloyd Murray, asked the court for more time to make arrangements for restitution and Nelson was thrice released from the Bryan County Jail over the last several months to handle her affairs.

On Thursday, however, Nelson changed her previous plea of ‘Not Guilty’ to ‘Guilty’ before Superior Court Judge Charles Rose. The plea, however, followed a total dismissal of the first Indictment and a new Accusation on two felony counts of Theft by Taking and one count of misdemeanor Theft by Taking.

The counts for which Nelson was held accountable:

  • Theft by Taking (f) – Taking more than $25,000 from the Richmond Hill Wild Boys Kicks Club between September 26, 2023 and July 31, 2024.
  • Theft by Taking (f) – Taking more than $5,000 from the Justice4Mica fundraiser to benefit Abigail Francis between June 1, 2024 and November 30, 2024.
  • Theft by Taking (m) – Taking less than $1,500 from the Lady Wildcats Booster Club between February 7, 2024 and July 31, 2024.

Nelson was sentenced to serve a total of two years in confinement with credit for time serve followed by 18 years on probation. She must pay $1,026.28 in restitution to the Richmond Hill Lady Wildcats Booster Club, $8,201.11 in restitution to Abigail Francis, and $29,036.04 in restitution to the Richmond Hill Boys Wild Kicks Club.

Nelson was sentenced as a First Offender, meaning if she successfully completes her probation, her record will be scrubbed clean.
