Bulloch County Planning and Zoning – February 8, 2024

The monthly meeting of the Bulloch County Planning and Zoning Commission was called to order by Acting Chair Charles Chandler, followed by an invocation and the pledge by Commissioner Betsy Riner. The video of the meeting was released on Friday, February 9, 2024 and can be viewed online.

Minutes from Previous Meeting
The minutes from the January 11, 2024 meeting were approved.

Zoning Item #1
Highpoint Capital, LLC submitted a sketch plan for 10 duplexes to be located in the Longpoint Cottages subdivision. The property is located at the intersection of Country Club Road and Highpoint Road near Willow Pond. Parcel No. MS20000003 002.

The Board approved the sketch plan by a vote of 3-0.

Zoning Item #2
Highpoint Capital, LLC applied for a variance to reduce a 40′ setback to 33′ on Lot #7 in Longpoint Subdivision. The property is located at the intersection of Country Club Road and Highpoint Road near Willow Pond. Parcel No. MS20000003 002.

The Board approved the variance by a vote of 3-0.

Zoning Item #3
Brian Scott Reddick has applied for a conditional use to allow a facility to host private and public functions. The plan is to have a 9,600 square foot wedding and event venue, a private home, and two suites for events. The property is located at 10143 Hwy. 80 East in between Brooklet and Stilson. Parcel No. 163 000029 000.

The conditional use was approved by a vote of 3-0.

Zoning Item #4
Miraya Investments, LLC submitted a request for a conditional use of operating a liquor store called CG’s Liquor. The proposed location is 8741 US Hwy. 301 South in Statesboro. Parcel No. 062B000003 001. This is in a vacant unit at Buddy’s Truck Stop, formerly known as A to Z Truck Stop. This would be the third liquor store in unincorporated Bulloch County.

The conditional use was approved by a vote of 3-0.
