I’m grateful to have the support of these local leaders and look forward to continuing our work together in the years ahead.”

Kemp Rolls Out “Elected Officials for Kemp” Endorsement List

The Kemp for Governor campaign released a lengthy list of endorsements from current members of the Georgia General Assembly on Thursday morning.

“During my first two years as Governor, we worked tirelessly alongside members of the General Assembly to put hardworking Georgians first,” said Governor Kemp. “Together, we cut taxes, championed historic pro-life legislation, stood with law enforcement against the far-left’s ‘Defund the Police’ agenda, secured our elections despite backlash from the woke mob, and kept Georgia the top state for business and the best place in the country to live, work, and raise a family. I am proud to have the support of these strong, conservative leaders, and I look forward to continuing our work together to move Georgia forward and win in 2022.”

I look forward to continuing to travel the state and share our message as we fight for Georgia’s number one industry and secure a strong win for all Georgians as their next Agriculture Commissioner.”

Republican Seeking to Challenge Lucy McBath Picks Up Several Endorsements

One of the Republican candidates seeking to take on Congresswoman Lucy McBath in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District has recently collected several endorsements of his candidacy.

Jake Evans, an attorney and resident of Cobb County, announced that his campaign has the backing of several heavy hitters in the district, which entails parts of Fulton and Cobb counties.

Among Evans’ endorsers:

Former Georgia Congressman and longtime conservative activist Bob Barr

“As conservatives, it is vitally important that we have sharp, tough-minded lawyers like Jake serving on the Judiciary Committee to stand up for our Second Amendment rights, for our religious liberties, and for laws that will crack down on the rampant crime across our nation,” said Barr, who served also as the U.S. Attorney in Atlanta during the Reagan administration. “Through the Mainstream Media, Big Tech, academia, and corporations, the Left will use every lever at its disposal to cancel conservative voices, and I’m backing Jake because I know he’s a true believer in conservative principles, and he won’t let these powers on the Left intimidate or silence him.

Lucy McBath is a puppet for Nancy Pelosi’s extreme agenda, and Jake Evans is our very best chance at defeating her.”

Former US Speaker Newt Gingrich

“Jake has reached the right conclusions on how to get our country back on track. Jake

is a strong conservative fighter that will stand up for us in Washington against threats to our constitutional freedoms and way of life. I have no doubt he will bring solid, conservative values to Congress that put us in the direction of a smaller, more localized government. I hope you can join me in supporting Jake Evans for Congress.” – Newt Gingrich, Former Speaker of the US House of Representatives and Congressman from Georgia’s 6th District.”

The Atlanta Tea Party Patriots and its co-founder Debbie Dooley

Jake will stand up for the principles that will Make America Great Again,” Dooley said. “He’s the unapologetic, unbreakable conservative that we need to retake this congressional seat. Our group represents a true grassroots movement, and Jake is a product of the grassroots. He didn’t parachute in out of nowhere just to run for office; he’s not a weak-kneed member of the Establishment; he’s a conservative leader who’s shown up for years as a volunteer to fight for Republican victories. That’s who we need to go toe-to-toe with Lefty Lucy McBath, take back the 6th Congressional District and start the Great American Comeback.”

“As an attorney, Jake has led and won on one of the top issues of our time: election integrity,” Dooley said. “His work overturned two elections in the same race because he was able to prove irregularities, and he took the Trump campaign’s case in Pennsylvania all the way to the Supreme Court. That’s the kind of fighter we need. We won’t take back our country with weak candidates, and Jake has demonstrated the strong leadership we need. We’re proud to join this effort, and we encourage true, MAGA conservatives to get onboard.”

Former GA-06 Candidate & Military Veteran Eric Welsh

“I’m Colonel Retired Eric Welsh. Several months ago I had the honor and privilege to launch my candidacy for Georgia’s 6th District. Unfortunately due to personal and professional reasons I had to suspend by candidacy and campaign, but what I haven’t suspended is my passion, commitment and love for this great nation — a nation I spent 27 years, with multiple deployments to combat, to lead and follow alongside some of the greatest men and women I will ever know, and this nation will ever know. But I am also a small business owner, a father and a grandfather. I am a father to a son currently serving as the 9th generation to the family legacy. We have serious problems this country is facing. We have borders that are open, we have out of control spending, government overreach on our civil liberties and we have issues around voter integrity. We do have a solution to these problems. That solution is Jake Evans, a candidate I fully support and endorse. Jake has a proven past performance and is a professional who has lived in this district a long time with his beautiful wife, Baylie. They, together as a team, will represent not only service members, veterans and their families but all residents of this district.”

Evans is the current Chairman of the Republican National Lawyers Association’s Georgia Chapter and he previously served as the Chair of Georgia Ethics Commission. You can learn more about him on Facebook or on his campaign website.

Evans joins Republicans Meagan Hanson, Harold Earls, and Mallory Staples in the primary race currently slated for May 2022.

SOS Candidate Responds to Headlines About Ethics Complaints, Prohibition of Judicial Candidacy

The candidate for Georgia Secretary of State who made headlines over the weekend for the ethics investigation by the state agency responsible for judicial standards is speaking out.

Republican TJ Hudson, who served as the Probate Judge in southeast Georgia’s Treutlen County for nearly 17 years, released a lengthy statement Wednesday. He was under investigation for alleged judicial misconduct when he resigned from his post to run for statewide office. Documents show that Hudson also agreed that he would not seek a judgeship in the state of Georgia for seven years.

Hudson had previously declined to comment other than saying it was ‘well-handled’ by the JQC.

His statement in its entirety:

“To support Georgians’ ability to trust in a secure and effective elections system I am running for Secretary of State.  I will use my 17 years experience in fair elections administration to put order in the vote!  Cheating in elections will not be tolerated when you elect TJ Hudson.  I will fight against lawsuits filed against Georgia when they end up wrongly assigned to Stacey Abram’s sister’s courtroom, as did a challenge to accept late absentee ballots filed in the Albany Federal Court in November as reported by 11 Alive News.”   Stacey’s collusion didn’t stop there, as other attempts to sue Georgia through her Obama appointed sister’s courtroom are reported by Politico.

“Over the past few days there’s been interest in how I, as Probate Judge, adjudicated a case where I placed my own relative in jail for contempt.  Let me be clear, my values have been instilled under the tutelage of a great Sheriff.  I mean business.  When it comes to right or wrong, backing the blue, protecting the safety of youth, and saving lives, I would even put my own father in jail, and Georgia election cheaters will be treated no differently!”

“State officials must have plans to support Senate Bill 202 which affirms our desire for secure, fair and safe elections.  But that can’t happen without the commitment of a Secretary of State who will enforce the law and go after cheaters.   I am the candidate who will stand and protect our election laws.”

“As Secretary of State, I will seek the application of maximum force to put order in the vote and stop wrong doers who seek to cheat in elections, because that is what Georgia voters are demanding and because that is the right thing to do.”

“I have already stated my support for the JQC’s handling of this matter in the AJC as reported in the AP News Wire.  Georgian’s will always know what side of the fence I stand on when it comes to law and order, and that includes elections.  The police asked me to assist in a call at a time of heightened racial tensions and I obliged, especially as this disturbance put a young person at risk, who also happened to be a relative.  I de-escalated the situation with the help of our law enforcement officers and made a temporary arrest of one of my adult relatives, who now supports my campaign for Secretary of State.  That’s water under the bridge for her and me, and the case is closed as far as we are concerned.”

“But for Georgians, the case for election fraud remains wide open.  You can be certain that supporting Georgia law, backing the Blue, and creating trust in voting for the people of Georgia, is my priority.  I will continue to take measures intended to ensure the security and safety of election systems for Georgians across our state. I ask for everyone’s active commitment to put order in the vote by not tolerating wrong doers.  I will protect the right to vote with the requirement of proper I.D., mitigate potential cheating in elections with absentee ballots, and allow the state to ramp up election day preparedness by supporting the elections workers, volunteers and superintendents.  Here’s a video link clip of me speaking on the JQC agreement to White County GOP this month.  I ask that you join me in this action oriented commitment at tjforgeorgia.com.”

Candidate for GA SOS Agreed Not to Seek Judgeship for 7 Years After JQC Complaints

Candidate for GA SOS Agreed Not to Seek Judgeship for 7 Years After JQC Complaints

A former probate judge in south Georgia who was under investigation for alleged judicial misconduct resigned from his post to run for statewide office. Documents show that the candidate for Georgia Secretary of State also agreed that he would not seek a judgeship in the state of Georgia for seven years.

As a former law enforcement officer, Torri “T.J.” Hudson has a lengthy political resume. He’s served as the Chief Magistrate Judge and Probate Judge in Treutlen and Johnson counties since 2005 and worked as the Treutlen County Elections Superintendent. He’s well-known in judicial circles, having served as the Chair of the Training Council for the Council of Probate Judges. Hudson also swore Governor Brian Kemp into office in 2019. Of biggest news, this past April, Hudson announced that he was running for Secretary of State on the Republican ticket.

But last week, news broke that Hudson’s resignation to seek the SOS position was prompted by another incident: an investigation by the state Judicial Qualifications Commission (JQC). The state agency said Hudson possibly violated 10 canons of judicial conduct. Then, he signed a consent agreement filed with the Georgia Supreme Court that bars him from serving as a judge in Georgia for the next seven years.

The JQC initiates investigations into judicial officers after a formal complaint is filed with the agency. Members of a 10-person commission review the relevant information for a preliminary inquiry and discuss the appropriate action. Those actions can include referral for further investigation and requiring the judge to appear for questioning. Upon completion of the investigation, the commission can opt to close the complaint (if it was without merit), admonish or reprimand the judge, or file formal proceedings. If a violation is found in the latter two options, the commission then makes recommendations to the Georgia Supreme Court for retirement, censure, suspension, or removal from office.

The Associated Press reported Sunday that Hudson’s JQC matter “was being investigated on allegations that he required a person appear in court for a contempt hearing and then wrongly sentenced that person to jail time.” No specific details of the individual jailed were included in the public report.

Hudson, who has stated since April that he stepped down from his position to run for statewide office, has offered no comment on the consent agreement, saying only that the matter was “well-handled” by the JQC.

In Georgia counties with a population of less than 90,000, probate judges are not required to be attorneys in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. The requirements include only two years of residency in the respective county, an active voter registration, a high school diploma, and that a person be at least 25-years-old. Treutlen County’s population in 2019 was approximately 6,900.

At this time, Hudson will join Congressman Jody Hice and David Belle Isle, former Mayor of Alpharetta, in the Republican Primary election against Brad Raffensperger.

Lucy McBath Draws Republican Challenger in GA-6

Congresswoman Lucy McBath has drawn a Republican challenger who seeks to unseat her in the 2022 General Election.

Meagan Hanson announced her bid for Congress in Georgia’s 6th Congressional district on Monday morning. The district covers Atlanta’s northern suburbs, including portions of Cobb, Fulton, and DeKalb counties.

From Monday’s press release:

Coming from humble beginnings, Hanson’s upbringing instilled in her the tireless drive to defend the conservative values that have made our nation great. Hanson is ready to go to Congress and lead the fight against Washington liberals’ plans to hike taxes, defund the police, open our borders, and fund politicians’ campaigns with taxpayer dollars.

“With the direction our country is going, the America I had growing up will not be the same America my kids will live in. I’m not content to watch this nation’s promise slip away,” said Hanson. “We need a Congresswoman who will fight for Georgia’s families, not Nancy Pelosi’s radical agenda. I’ll work every day to lower taxes, end out-of-control government spending, and get America back on track.”

Growing up, Hanson followed her parents’ example and worked hard to earn a scholarship to college, later graduating from law school. Hanson has lived the American Dream and knows Georgia families need opportunities, not obstacles.

Hanson spent much of her adult life on the front lines of the conservative movement, and when her community needed someone who would fight for Georgia families in the state legislature, she stepped up. Despite running in a district most Republicans had given up on, she defeated a well-known Democrat incumbent in her first ever campaign for elected office.

Since fighting for local families in the legislature, she has continued to lead the charge against liberal activists, protect the integrity of the justice system, and defend the legal principles laid out in our Constitution.

“Conservative values aren’t just a talking point for me. They are what I’ve been fighting for my entire life – on the grassroots level, in the legislature, and in the court system,” said Hanson. “With liberals like Lucy McBath in office, our communities have felt the full force of the left’s wish list: higher taxes, bigger government, more crime, a crisis at our border, and a radical cancel culture movement that has cost our local economy over $100 million. I’ve never backed down – and I’m ready for this fight because my family’s future, and the future of those in our community, depend on it.”

Meagan lives in Sandy Springs with her husband David and two children.

WATCH: Kemp Releases First Ad of Campaign Season

Ahead of what should be MLB All-Star Weekend in Atlanta, the Kemp for Governor campaign released its first television ad for the 2022 cycle which highlights “Governor Brian Kemp’s record of fighting for secure, accessible, and fair elections against cancel culture and the “woke” mob.”

In the ad, Kemp says Georgians should be celebrating the All Star game, but are instead dealing with the impacts of “Stacey Abrams and the liberal mob” forcing the game elsewhere. He also states that their political agenda will come ahead of jobs, small businesses, and the truth.

You can watch the ad below.

Not Backing Down

Kemp has two primary challengers thus far – former State Representative Vernon Jones and Baxley educator Kandiss Taylor.

Ocilla State Senator Says He’ll Run for Agriculture Commissioner

Following the announcement by the state agriculture commissioner that he’ll be running for higher office, a state senator from south Georgia has thrown his name in the ring for the post.

State Senator Tyler Harper said Tuesday that he will run for Agriculture Commissioner in 2022. Current Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black announced last month that he is running for United State Senate in hopes of unseating Senator Raphael Warnock.

Harper is in his fifth term in the state legislature, having been elected in 2012 in a district that currently encompasses ten counties in whole or part. He is currently chairman of the Senate Natural Resources and the Environment Committee and vice chairman of the Public Safety Committee. He is also a seventh generation farmer.

The commissioner heads the Georgia Department of Agriculture, which is responsible for regulating and promoting Georgia’s agriculture industry. Like many Georgia state executive officers, the commissioner is elected to four year-terms during federal midterm election years. State law also requires that the commissioner be a “practical farmer.”

Democrat Nakita Hemingway, who ran for state House in Gwinnett County in 2020, is also running for the position.

Kemp Announces Campaign Staff, Grassroots Leaders for 2022 Re-Election Campaign

It was not an unexpected announcement, but Tuesday’s announcement made it official: Governor Brian Kemp is running for re-election in 2022.

Baxley educator Kandiss Taylor and former Democrat and former state representative Vernon Jones both announced earlier this year that they plan to square off against Kemp in the Republican primary. Libertarian Shane Hazel made his announcement late last year.

The Kemp for Governor campaign officially rolled out its network of grassroots leaders across all 159 counties in Georgia as well as initial staff in their official announcement.

“Team Kemp has been hard at work putting together a team that will win in 2022,” said Bobby Saparow, Campaign Manager. “Brian Kemp has a strong, conservative record of fighting for life, standing up for law enforcement, cutting taxes, protecting lives and livelihoods against the COVID-19 pandemic, and defending election integrity. With grassroots leaders across every county in the state standing with Governor Kemp, it’s clear his record is one Georgians support, and we look forward to hitting the campaign trail in the coming months to build on our momentum and continue fighting to put hardworking Georgians first.”
